- Beta versions of 3.0i are available by making a request to Michael Loader
- or Technical Support on the BBS at 1 (314) 256-8971.

- A PICT filter was added *free* *of* *charge* in the latest beta (beta 5).
- Macintosh Graphics are commonly saved in PICT format, so this gives access
- to a treasure trove of Mac graphics previously beyond the reach of *many*
- PageStream users. A couple foibles of the filter currently: *1* It does not
- export; *2* It does not recognize PICT graphics in MacBinary format, so you
- must remove the MacBinary header to import them. This can be accomplished
- with my StripBytes utility which is on AmiNET (utils/misc I think). The
- commandline would be:
-
- StripBytes <inputfile> <outputfile> <numberofbytestoskip> [outputlength]
-
- for example:
-
- Stripbytes planet planet.pict 128
-
- would open the MacBinary PICT planet, skip the first 128 bytes and output the
- rest to the file planet.pict whereas
-
- Stripbytes planet planet.pict 128 43027
-
- would skip the first 128 bytes then output the following 43,027 bytes to the
- output file.

- They claim to be within a week *or* *so* of the final 3.0i release. Don't hold
- your breath if you're unwilling to call the BBS.

- Since PageStream3 is being written in ANSI C (with some modification for
- individual platforms), the next release versions should be fairly close
- together. They say that 3.0i will come out for the Amiga, then in about a
- month after that, the Full Release version for the Mac will come out. I think
- they're waiting until they finish the Mac version before they start in earnest
- on the Win95 version.
-
- I know international BBS calls are extremely unpopular calls to make, but at
- this time Soft-Logik can't afford their own Internet site. Maybe those of you
- in Europe could bend the ears at Digita to get something set up on your side
- of the pond.
-
- I hope this helps.
